Jab We Met...

THUMP!!!

eek!!! My lady bird cycle thumped at a hump in one of the cross roads of BTM! :D  Needless to say of how I was physically and emotionally imbalanced!! [Yes..you read it right, emotionally imbalanced, because a scratch on my vehicle gives me sleepless nights! :P] Whilst I was managing myself to get out of this embarrassing situation, a girl, flaunting her long, silky hairs [;)] did pass by in her hero ranger cycle... In-spite of the trauma, this girl caught my attention mainly because we resembled a lot! :D Our path crossed for the first time, and least did we know that itz gonna cross again and again.. :D

Well, for the next three years, we kept on exchanging stern looks, but neither of us didn't bother to smile, but always wondered how could there be such a resemblance! :D

As time swept by, we switched from school to college; two plaits to single plait, and of-course cycle to scooty!!!

It was my first day of 2nd PU Maths tuition class. As soon I entered the classroom, I did spot this girl in the first bench.[I guess, that was the only day I saw her in the first bench :D] Yes, we were in the same batch and at-last we threw a magnificent smile at each other!!  Thatz how I met PRANEETHA!! :)

PraNEETha - The chirpy, snappy, zingy and pragmatic girl I have ever met. I have nick-named her as Neet as she is almost like Geet of Jab We Met ;)

Well, what happened after we met???
  • We studied and discussed Integration, Differentiation...and each time BGS [Our Maths lecturer... ahh I can see Praneetha rolling her eyes after reading BGS :D] posed a question we used to hide away :p
  • We did a combined study for CET, which we regret now! :D Perhaps, our ranking would have been better if we hadn't studied together! :D [We recently revealed our CET marks and continued to laugh for next 10 mins...]
  • We explored Bangalore during the process of job hunt ;)
  • We have watched some N-number of movies; few disastrous to excellent. By the way, Praneetha is a fantabulous narrator...If she narrates a story its almost like watching a movie!
  • We drive, drive, and drive until we are tired. [The latest record being 280kms in a day! ಅಲ್ವಾ praneetha ;)].
  • We walk for hours until our beloved mothers call and remind us of time....[Ok, let me end this list without revealing too much]

From smile to gag, from chuckles to cackles, from giggles to guffaws, we have come a long way... Let us further expand our laughing territory... what say Neet? ;) [Ahem, I can see Praneetha running her fingers through her hair and smiling now :D]

A revolution should begin from within

PS: My SPECIAL thanks to two of my best friends - Manu and Shabna, who are non-kannadigas, and have not only learned Kannada, but also make an attempt to speak in Kannada in their day-to-day life... hats-off!!! :)

Pyramid Valley

Meeting old friends is always exciting and eliciting. After a huge round of where and when discussions, we finally decided to visit "The Pyramid Valley". Thanks to Google for letting us know about the existence of pyramid in Namma BengaLooru!!! (Life without Google is really difficult, isn't it??? :P)

I must say we all met on time with just a delay of half-an-hour :P. As we drove ahead our thoughts swept through the good old college days, making the drive more pleasurable.

The pyramid valley is located around 30 km from Banashankari. The roads are great only after you cross the inner ring road-kanakapura junction and Thalaghattapura area. Look out for the sign boards just to ensure that you are on track. Once you take a left turn from NH-209 the road narrows, and test one's driving skill :P The situation worsens when a bullock cart/tractor approaches from the opposite side!!! :D

The pyramid valley is open from 6.00am to 10.00pm. The entry is free of cost. To my surprise, parking the black beauty did not seem to be a herculean task this time!! ;) Its not that I have mastered the art of parking, but, it's just that the parking space is abundant!!!:D

As you spot the pyramid amongst the lush greenery, you may not be awed, but still you will be curious enough to know whats within the pyramid.

You enter the pyramid, after a brief explanation about the meditation technique by one of the valley's volunteer. As you step inside, all of a sudden you feel someone has hit the mute button, and there you stand inside an unfathomed, sober, and super cool pyramid!!!

The base area of the pyramid is about 160ft x160ft and right at the center you see a spiral staircase which leads to the kings chamber. The kings chamber is said to be the most energetic spot of the pyramid and stands at a height of 34ft from the base area. The kings chamber is so silent that even your heartbeat seems to be annoying !!!:P

Photography is strictly prohibited and children below six years are not allowed inside the pyramid.

Upon exit, all that was in my mind was "The quieter you become, the more you can hear!" - one of the Zen principles!!

On an hindsight, "If you adore silence you ought to visit Pyramid Valley!!!"

Choco-Coco Delight!!

All you need is:
  • Finely powdered biscuits
  • Chocolate powder
  • Desiccated coconut powder
  • Milk
  • Butter
  • Powdered sugar
Procedure:
  1. Add one cup of chocolate powder to two cups of finely powdered biscuit. The ratio of chocolate powder to Biscuit powder is 1:2.
Note: Excessive usage of chocolate powder may cause bitter taste, remember this is a dessert! :)
  2. To this mixture add required quantity of milk, and knead the dough till you get the right consistency. The choco-biscuit dough is now ready!
  3. In a separate container, add one cup of powdered sugar and a tablespoon of butter to one cup of desiccated coconut powder. Mix the ingredients well.
  4. Roll out the choco-biscuit dough to required diameter(Of-course, round if possible!!)
  5. Spread the desiccated coconut mixture evenly. Transform it to a roll.
  6. Refrigerate this roll for about 30 minutes.
  7. Slice the roll.
The choco-coco delight is now ready to relish!!! :D

"We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospection~Anais Nin"

It was a draggy, braggy project retrospective meeting, and there I sat among the people who were deliberately exaggerating and trumpeting the very smallest effort they had made to complete the release cycle. The meeting was going out of the track and apparently I started scrolling through the project retrospective document, and all of a sudden, it struck me "How about creating a retrospective document in personal life too!!!??"

I don't know how the meeting was concluded as this thought was hovering, and my mind was restless until I came up with a schema of the same.  I had decided the document to be an excel sheet, as I have a huge crush on it!! [I really admire its functionalities, Psst...Sometimes, I even dream of colorful excel sheets ;)]

As I was grouping my scattered thoughts, I came to a conclusion that, retrospective analysis wouldn't suffice but a combination of retrospective and prospective analysis would be more effective! Therefore, I imbibed few things from the performance management tool too and named the excel sheet as BDay-BDay Tracker, with each tab being a overview of an year! I owe this excel sheet to the process-oriented companies that I had worked/working...! :P

When Do I update it?
On my BDay, I feel great to write whats going on in my mind, along with listing the professional and personal objectives for the year, short term and long term plan, etc etc... I also spend time on reasoning why some of the previous year objectives weren't met. Along with this, I make an attempt to capture the most striking and important events, situations, characters, and how it has impacted me!
The best part of this excel is, on my Bday, I capture a close up shot of myself and paste it!!!! Its nice to point out the differences over the years ;)

How effective is this?
I have been maintaining this sheet from past five years, and I must say that initially it was to fritter away the time! :P But now, I second, spending some time on yourself is worth in long run! Looking back at the jotted points helps you to measure your progress, and also the lesson learned! ;) I have been promptly and honestly updating this sheet through out the year and I believe we are the manager of our soul!! After all, COMPLACENCY means a lot to me!!

Black Beauty...

Should I desire for DZIRE, or should I opt an OPTRA?
Should I be a wagoner of a WagonR, or should I swiftly buy a SWIFT?
Should I alter my dreams to ALTO, or should I eye on i20?
Though my heart clings to a black Santro Xing, my mind clung to a black i10!! ;)

From months to weeks, weeks to days, days to hours, the wait was finally over...The D-Day had arrived!!! And there were only few hours left for me to meet my new buddy...

As soon as I entered the showroom, I could see the Black Beauty being decked up, and all set for its go ahead. ;) And I guess, she was also waiting for her possessor! :P

With all the formalities being done, I took on the key and pressed the unlock button to introduce myself to the Black Beauty!:P With a blissful smile, I opened the door for my parents. My riant mother, reluctantly boarded the car...I could sense the anxiety in her as she knew that I will be driving in the next few minutes... :p

I stepped-in, started off, and held my hand gently on the gear. As I started releasing the clutch... the Black Beauty took off smoothly...Before the wheels completed its 4th rotation, my anxious amma started yelling "ರೇಖಾ... ನಿಧಾನ...!!!!!"  and I did stop and handed over the key to my brother-in-law. :D While he started traversing in the terrific traffic, I began to enjoy the drive and the song that was being aired on the radio... ;)

My special thanks to all my clans who withstood my obsession. Specially my younger cousin, for bearing my annoyance. Each time we spotted an i10, we used to exchange a big smile and say "i10 ಅಲ್ವಾ!!":))

With days passing by, I am getting to understand my Black Beauty better and better...and I must say am truly Mesmerized and SMITTEN!! :)

Itz always nice to start a day by sipping a froth filled coffee, while watching nature ;) I simply like the soothing effect...

That too, inspite of me being a nature lover!!! x-( ಯಾವ ಹಕ್ಕಿ??? The so called intelligent CROW! ಆದ್ರೆ itz cawing irritates me to the core...

Back at home, "ಅಮ್ಮ, ನನಗೆ ಯಾಕೆ ರೇಖಾ ಅಂತ ಹೆಸರು ಇಟ್ಟಿದ್ಯ!!!" Throwing a bewildered look, she did justify!!!

"ಆದ್ರೂನು" I continued..."ನೀ ನನಗೆ ಸಂಧ್ಯಾ ಅಂತ ಹೆಸರಿಡ್ಬೇಕಿತ್ತು...!!!"

Vexed with my early morning questions she continued to do her chores without even bothering to ask me "ಯಾಕೆ?"

However, I said.. "ನೀನು ಅವಳಿಗೆ ಉಷಾ (The don oops dawn) ಅಂತ ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟ ಮೇಲೆ ನನಗೆ ಸಂಧ್ಯಾ (dusk) ಅಂತ ಹೆಸರಿಡ ಬೇಕಿತು !!!  The dawn and the dusk! what a contrast...!!!!! Before she reacted, I just walked out of the kitchen, thrilled at my very own thought... ;) :P

No matter what, ನನಗೆ ನನ್ನ ಹೆಸರು ತುಂಬ ಇಷ್ಟ!!!

Down the memory lane...

It was a lazy Sunday afternoon and I was just gazing at the huge carton placed in the attic of my room! I have named this carton as "The Encephalo" because I had dumped all my books right from Class II to Engineering! ;)
Just to come out of my laziness and to be surrounded in the aura of quondam,I thought of a clean up.  As I was dusting the books, one of them caught my immense attention and made my mind to swirl around the subject. With a sardonic smile, I held this book and read its name aloud ...

"Microprocessor 8085 - A P Godse and D A Godse"
The horrific, atrocious, awful subject I ever came across in Engineering. It was this subject which enlightened me not to step into the world of programming!! :D

The architecture, the memory allocation, interfaces, the lengthy programs, blah blah, all these made me think "Why didn't this Godse kill microprocessor!!!" :(
I somehow managed to understand the architecture two days before the exams, and with least hesitation, I admit that I did byheart the programs for the lab exams! As per me three months is very short time to understand the subject and write programs.  My aim was to get an All-Clear result!!
I do still remember the day I got my 5th sem result.  For the first time, I was so proud of myself, as i had cleared "The Microprocessor". It was the greatest achievement of those days ;)

The book which brought a smile on my face today, was once upon a time a "nightmare"!!! This reminded me of a quote, "The problem of today is the joke of tomorrow" :D :D

March 30, 2011

Our life is what our thoughts make it!!

All this while, I was obsessed with the quote "Life is what happens to you while you are busy making other plans". But, as I was trenchantly searching for new set of quotes, I came across the following quote which made me to pause and think for a while!

"Life is 10 percent what happens to you and 90 percent how you respond to it!!"

Isn't is true??? Life may push you into a deep ditch of unexpected situation, but its the attitude which makes you to come out of this dicey situation. The cerebration should revolve around how to bounce out rather than to mourn over the situation!! Remember, a fall should always make you wiser and not a loser!

Well, in the sail of life one must/will experience a tremor for sure, it is just that, the magnitude may vary from 4-9 on the Richter scale!!!;). My next thought was, despite of these tremors, how can one make life interesting and happier??? Considering the fact that I have been living on this terrestrial planet for quite sometime, here are few things that I have penned:
  • Be contented
  • Expect LEAST from others and MOST from self!
  • Appreciate yourself, it motivates to do things better!
  • Dream, it makes your soul happy ;)
  • Always do things you would love to do
  • Think Good... Feel Good!!!
  • Keep learning new things...
  • One must try to adopt this attitude :P
  • Finally, always find something positive in every circumstance. Here is a story which demonstrate the same...
A very old lady looked in the mirror one morning. She had three remaining hairs on her head, and being a positive soul, she said, "I think I'll braid my hair today." So she braided her three hairs, and she had a great day.
Some days later, looking in the mirror one morning, preparing for her day, she saw that she had only two hairs remaining. "Hmm, two hairs... I fancy a center parting today." She duly parted her two hairs, and as ever, she had a great day.
A week or so later, she saw that she had just one hair left on her head. "One hair huh...," she mused, "I know, a pony-tail will be perfect." And again she had a great day.
The next morning she looked in the mirror. She was completely bald. "Finally bald huh," she said to herself, "How wonderful! I won't have to waste time doing my hair any more.." ;)

The Princess!!!

It was a summer morning and I was very eager and super excited to meet HER. At my very first glance, I felt SHE is a live example of the famous nursery rhyme Chubby cheeks, dimple chin, Curly hair, very fair...!!!!  I must say, SHE was round-faced, curly haired, pinkish breathing doll !! :) The first time I placed HER on my lap, I was spell-bound. I was indeed a proud AUNT! SHE was named as NAMRATHA...@};-

Innocent yet naughty, receptive yet adamant, introvert yet talkative, a quick learner and a gizmo freak, thatz nammu-my cute little niece!

Nammu and her imagery:
Whenever I see a Tata Nano car or when I hold a mouse (i meant the computer accessory!) this cutie pie will cross my mind for her excellent imaginative skills. As per her, both are alike!

Nammu and Gadgets:
  • She can easily operate a camera. Her focusing and framing skills are quite surprising!
  • Mobile, itz a toy to her! She can operate any mobile, right from the basic model to touch screen. An expert in playing games and can outwit her mother. And while playing game, one must observe her expressions, it looks as though she is composing a serious mail! :) Now she is a huge fan of "Talking Tom Cat", an android application!
  • Initially, she used to ask me in a specific raaga ''online game ಹಾಕೊಡೆ"!  Now she is so self-sufficient, that she states she just has to click the letter 'e' (Internet explorer), and type the game name in the rectangle at the right corner (google search engine) ಅಷ್ಟೇ!!
Nammu and her BDay Mania:
Ofcourse, like any one else, we both will also fight! And the success rate of my victory against her will be HIGH only during the first five months of a year!!!The moment the fight reaches its peak, I start telling the names of the months "Jan, feb, march...." and deliberately stop at "MAY"! OMG, thatz her BDay month and my trump card is her BDay gift!!! The moment she realizes that I am not gifting her this year, she is ready for a compromise!! So mean of me, but itz nice to see her mixed expression (anger+disappointment+innocence)!!!

Miscellany:
  • In Food World, itz always fun to see her moving here and there with a basket, picking up the things (rather food items) she likes! Nice to see her perplexity too.:-/
  • Like any other kid, Pogo is her fav channel. I have started liking Chota Bheem as it is a compulsory show!!
  • All of a sudden, she sometimes demand for a ride! I guess she likes gush of wind ;))
  • At times, we are crime-partners! If N is equal to the total number of jamoons, the count of the jamoons will always reduces to (N-2), each time we visit the kitchen!:-$
  • The moment she addresses me as rekhi.. itz a clear indication that she is buttering-up for something!
Itz difficult to pen everything, as the list may go on and on!!! All I can say is, every time I spend time with her, she evokes a child within me...!

Train of thoughts!

Traveling in train is not new to me and Shruthi. We have had some exciting, on the fly, short-trips!;) Contrary, this time, it was a perfectly-planned trip to the land of unknowns! So, its operation "Terra incognita"!!!!!

We stood in the platform with a hope that we get into the the right compartment. As we started indulging in our very own giggly talk, the train arrived and we started looking out for the ladies compartment. Boarding the train was not a cake-walk. It was one of the funniest moment. Somehow, amid the mad rush, I was successful in stepping the steps but couldn't get into the compartment!#:-S. Later, I realized that the luggage was caught in the crowd with its handle in my hand. I could neither get in nor could step out! At this slippery situation only one thing crossed my mind and thatz TOM and JERRY!!!;))
The compartment was jam-packed and it comprised women of all age groups! There were gang of college girls, middle aged women running behind their kids, and a group of elderly ladies representing some ashram!

Though we could see each other face, it was impossible for us to converse. It was really difficult to kill time and I was missing shruthi's one-liners!:-j And while in roaming, it would definitely not make sense to call/msg just for the sake of chit-chatting. So, we switched on the blue-tooth and started exchanging our thoughts through notepad. Isn't it a smart, cost-effective idea!*-:) We were physical separated but technologically connected!

As time passed by, the compartment was left with very few people. It was already 5:30pm and how can we break our own rule?? Yes, every time we travel in train we make sure that we sit at the entrance with our legs rested on the step. In a gush of wind, listening to your fave song, watching the sunset in god's own country while munching banana chips... aah what an amazing moment!!(*)

We must be really thankful to the children who were the prefect translators, and helped us to reach our final destination!

This trip was indeed special!
